About the Artist

Rocky Shaw draws and paints what she loves: people, animals, still life's, and especially horses. Though some have tagged her a portrait artist she, explains; "I'm thankful to have an ability to capture facial likeness but my passion is to discover and celebrate that peculiar personality in everything I draw or paint, whether human, equestrian, scapes or still life."

Rocky has an amazing appreciation for detail, as exemplified in all her work, but specifically seen in her ballpoint pen and pencil drawings.  She's often more challenged by what medium to use than by what subject matter to choose, being effective at drawing inspiration from the usual, the simple and the mundane to create something magnificent.  Phyllis Dianne was eventually christened "Rocky" by a close friend, though her art still maintains the moniker "PD Shaw".
